BIOGRAPHY

Jack Kabangu was born in Zambia and has family roots in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He currently lives and works In Copenhagen, Denmark, where he has resided since 2005.

A self-taught artist, Kabangu examines his connection to his homeland and immediate environment, exploring the pros and cons of both places in addition to the external forces that have molded his identity as an expatriate in Denmark. Kabangu's artistic practice employs vibrant colour palettes and dynamic lines to create abstract figures infused with refrences to Abstract Expressionism, Graffiti and the Cobra Art Movement. Creating physically demanding work, Kabangu utilises his fingers, spatulas, scrapers, and brushes to produce spontaneous yet distinct works.
